Sunday afternoon, SK discovered the world of tree-climbing. There are two evergreen trees side by side in our back yard, and I guess he was just curious what would happen if he put one foot above the other. He got up to 12-15 feet and started yelling excitedly. He started describing everything he could see.
"I can see everything! I'm so big and huge!" he exclaimed. He stayed up for a while, jabbering the whole time about all that was within his view.
Yesterday, he did it again, but went higher. "I'm like a giant," he yelled. "All the people will see me and say 'there's a giant!' Look at me, Mom. Look at MEEEEEE!"
I've got news for ya, kiddo. I never took my eyes off you, and I certainly held my breath.

Explanation Needed
Last Wednesday morning, SK went straight to the front window upon waking. He pushed back the curtain, sighed, and said, "No snow. Just plain old rain."
***
It was very windy as we were walking into church yesterday morning. "Daddy," he asked, "why are those leaves chasing each other?"
***
WB has learned a few more signs. He can sign "more," "milk," "drink," "eat," "bye-bye," "all-done," and "night-night."
***
I'm wondering why WB refuses steamed broccoli, cooked tomatoes, corn chips, and at odd other times, even some favorite foods like banana or rice. Yet, he chews on pine cones or sticks and eats dirt when we are in the back yard. I am beyond baffled.

Little Milestones
WonderBoy is has added new elements to his cute routine. It's not the kind of stuff that already has a blank reserved in the baby book, like "first step" or "first tooth." Yet, it makes him seem bigger.
For instance, he is putting his face in the bathwater and blowing bubbles. It cracks me up to listen to both boys making motorboat sounds in the bathtub.
I've also been trying to teach him to participate in pick up time, and he's getting the idea. He will put toys in a bucket and then clap and say "yay!" He has yet to learn to discriminate which things to put in which containers, though. I've had to dig a few things out of trash cans and the washing machine.
He likes to help put dirty clothes in the washing machine, and he is also "helping" transfer wet clothes to the dryer. He is so proud to be doing laundry. Both boys like doing the washing and drying part. SuperKid is practicing his folding. Nobody likes to put away, though! I'm trying to think of a way to make that into a game, but still coming up blank.
SuperKid's cough has greatly improved. He still has 10 days on his antibiotic. Me and WonderBoy both had a stomach virus last week. It was very intense. KiSA also worked 70+ hours last week, so that was challenging, too. But we pulled through, and we're well now.
I'm sorry I don't have pictures right now. That's another story. I hope to have some soon.

I didn't know what I thought I knew
SuperKid had a few sniffles before we flew to TX for Christmas. It escalated into full-blown coughing fits indicative of asthma. Well, after 6 weeks or so of aggressive asthma treatment with little noticeable improvement, we showed up on the allergist's doorstep.
One itchy back and uncomfortable nasal swab later, we find out that he does not have allergies to any inhalants OR MILK. That's right, no allergies to animal, vegetable or mineral common to us. That means either a) God has healed him of previous allergies, or b) the initial tests 2 years ago yielded false positives, which they are prone to do. I'll take c) all of the above.
The doctor did find a sinus infection. "Raging," was the word he used to describe it. He explained that often the only symptom of a sinus infection is coughing. "We have to make sure we're barking up the right tree," he noted. Indeed.
My first thought was, "Are you kidding me?" Two years of doing everything we could to help the poor kid, spending who knows how much time and money, and it was a chronic sinus infection? Seriously?
My second thought was, "Thank God." This means the rest of his childhood will be spent playing tag, jumping on the neighbor's trampoline, casting spider-webs and hitting baseballs--all without coughing breaks.
As we got in the car, I explained to him that the doctor said he could have cow milk now.
"I can?" he replied with surprise.
"Yeah," I said. "You don't have allergies."
"I don't?"
"No. You can have anything with cow milk in it now. Like cheese, and yogurt, and ice cream."
"Ice cream?!"
"Yeah."
He frowned.
"But I like goat cheese."
"Well, you can still have that too."
It was quiet for a minute.
"Can I have oranges and orange juice?"
"Yup."
"Yaaayy!" As he erupted into clapping, so did WonderBoy. He likes to celebrate, even if he doesn't understand why. I like that attitude.
Of course, we still need to sort out the whole sinus infection thing. Which I am confident we will. But for now, I am going to rejoice in the good news, thank God in advance for total healing of this infection, and put away the Zyrtec, Singulair, Pulmicort, Albuterol, Delsym, Athsma Rescue, and nebulizer. It's time to break out the football and do an end-zone dance in the back yard.
