Snaggle tooth

WB knocked his bottom front tooth out at a 90-degree angle tonight. He was attempting to pull up on the entertainment center and snagged it. He squalled mightily, but some good 'ol Rescue Remedy, prayer, and playing peek-a-boo in the mirror helped him regain his composure.

When the after-hours dentist and pediatrician numbers weren't answered, I called a friend who is a dentist. She happened to be at the Target near us and met us there to look at it, presumably to let us know if we needed to go to the ER or not. One well-placed push later, and she let us know that she'd put it back in place and he would probably be fine. It was good, she said, that it was replaced so soon after the injury, within 30 minutes.

We have one tough baby here. He cried, sure, but took it exceptionally well and dried up quickly. Relieved, we came home and got him as comfortable as we could, and now he is sleeping well.

What's more, this was not our first adventure of the day. While eating dinner, the restaurant's fire alarm and burgler alarm were tripped. I took the boys out front because it was so loud. We were in position to watch the fire trucks careening down the street and into the parking lot right in front of us. Then the firemen piled out with all their gear. SK said "Hi," to one of them, and he looked straight down at my wide-eyed boy and said, "Hello." God bless him, that fireman just made the little guy's day. "He's so nice to me," SK said with a giggle, like a school girl who'd just seen her favorite rock star.

We also played in the sprinkler tonight. It was a balmy 80 degrees this evening, and even cooler once we were wet. We played chase and pretended to be airplanes and rockets and kicked the beach ball and generally raised a ruckus.

No wonder I'm tired. All in a day, I guess. And tomorrow is another. I can only wonder what it may hold.
